Jack Bailey is a contemporary artist based in Byron Bay who works with abstraction, moving image and patterns drawn from nature. His meticulous photographic landscapes capture vignettes from the larger environmental panorama, translating them in dream-like sequences which are familiar but often overlooked. He transforms these experiences into unique, large-format artworks that open like meditative portals to the natural world. They are framed (without glass) in locally reclaimed timber, designed to extend the experience into the environment.

After working in design and advertising for some years, and becoming a creative director in the USA, Bailey left the industry and Los Angeles behind in 2013. He embarked on a solo four month journey to Alaska in an old single cab Toyota Hilux, delving into photography on that trip. He returned to Australia and travelled around Tasmania /lutruwita for a month where he created his first exhibition (titled LUTRUWITA). Travel to wild and remote landscapes all over the world is central to the development of his practice. He has been presenting his work since 2015, with solo exhibitions regularly selling out. In 2023 his film HORSE was awarded Best Experimental Film at the Byron Bay International Film Festival, following his success in the same award with CONTINUUM in 2019.
